INFINITE releases “Thanks To” video for their ‘That Summer’ concert

For nearly the past week, the boys of INFINITE made their fans swoon with their ‘That Summer‘ concert series. As a special gift to their fans and supporters, they’ve released a special “Thanks to” video.
The official YouTube message reads: “From August 8th to August 12th 2012, we thank you for the beautiful memories made over the 5 days of a summer vacation with INFINITE.”

INFINITE steals hearts once again at ‘That Summer’ concert

INFINITE proved once again that they know how to make fans swoon at their ‘That Summer‘ concert series, which opened in Seoul on August 8th.
While their concert in April filled 10,000 seats each time, INFINITE’s ‘That Summer’ concert series consisted of a much smaller stage with only 2000 seats, making fans feel even closer to the boys than ever before. Their concert series this summer had a ‘summer vacation’ concept, creating a light and joyful atmosphere for fans.
Starting with ‘She’s Back‘, ‘Entrust‘, ‘That Summer‘, ‘Amazing‘, ‘I Like You‘, and a new version of ‘Wings‘, the members blew fans kisses and fooled around amongst themselves, making fans laugh and cheer along with the boys.
Along with their generous fan service, there were a few minor accidents and mistakes that occurred in the standing section of the audience. Member Woohyun said to fans calmly and lovingly, “You don’t belong to anyone else. You’re all ours“, making fans scream.

INFINITE also surprised fans with unit INFINITE H, consisting of rapper line members Dongwoo and Hoya, who sang a new song, ‘When You’re Not Here‘. The main vocals of the group, Sunggyu and Woohyun, also created a new unit and sang for fans the sweet song, ‘White Confession‘.
The concept for ‘When You’re Not Here’, revealed for the first time during the ‘That Summer’ concert, was a classic black and white look, with Dongwoo and Hoya sitting luxuriously in red chairs, showing off their sexy and chic attitudes, as well as their rapping abilities and charisma.
On the other hand, the vocal line wore softer white tones to match ‘White Confession’ and flaunted the vocal talent they both displayed on KBS‘s ‘Immortal Song 2‘, making fans go wild.
The boys also tried their hand at working as a band with Sungyeol on drums, Dongwoo on bass, L on guitar, and maknae Sungjong on guitar. The new INFINITE band performed an amazing rendition of ‘Over The Rainbow‘. L’s experience from tvN drama ‘Shut Up Flower Boy Band‘ was evident in the performance, as he showcased his live guitar skills.
As expected, the boys displayed their perfectly synchronized dancing abilities, one of the aspects of their teamwork that made them well-known. Hoya commented in the beginning of the concert, “You must be bored because we haven’t been dancing yet. We’re going to dance a lot later. You’ll probably die“, again driving fans crazy.
The group started with easier songs like ‘Nothing’s Over‘ and ‘Cover Girl‘, which have cuter, easier choreography to follow the sweet melodies. The serious dancing started with hit song ‘BTD‘, in which the boys showcased their famous ‘scorpion dance’. They continued with songs like ‘Paradise‘, ‘Feel So Bad‘, ‘The Chaser‘, and ‘Be Mine‘, showing off the perfectly synchronized dance moves that they are well known for.

In addition to their great performance on stage, INFINITE also created adorable videos for the transitions between acts. The videos featured a camping concept and included games that showcased the personalities of each member, such as the ‘truth game’ and ‘rolling paper’ game, during which members spoke their true feelings about a variety of topics. The members revealed that they created the videos to “communicate better with our fans“.
In the ‘truth game’, members were only able to answer with ‘yes’ or ‘no’, making some questions difficult to answer. L answered the question “Nobody in INFINITE comes close to your looks” with a simple “Yes“, and leader Sungkyu explained, “I didn’t come to INFINITE due to my looks“, answering the question with a “No“, cracking the members  and fans up.
Sunggyu struggled with the awkward question, “Name 3 reasons why you don’t like our CEO,” to which he responded carefully, “He doesn’t wash, he nags us a lot, and he’s sensitive“, again making the members laugh.
The ‘rolling paper’ game consisted of anonymous messages written to the other members. Sungjong received messages like, “Congratulations on becoming an adult. Just don’t become corrupt” and the shocking “I’ve worn your underwear before“. Sunggyu received, “Please flush the toilet“, and Dongwoo received, “It’s scary when you sleep with your eyes open. You monster“, bringing out even more laughs from members and fans alike.This summer, INFINITE made unforgettable memories with their fans during the 100 minutes of their concert from August 8th to August 12th.

Hoya and Dongwoo to perform as subunit ‘INFINITE H’ for ‘That Summer’ concert

INFINITE has prepared a special surprise for fans!
For the group’s ‘That Summer‘ concert coming up on the 8th, the group’s rappers Hoya and Dongwoo will reveal a new song under the subunit ‘INFINITE H‘. The subunit has already received much love from fans for their performances of “Crying” and “You Look Good” during INFINITE’s concert this past March.
A Woolim Entertainment representative stated, “Although plans of official activities for INFINITE H are not set in stone, they abruptly began preparing for a special performance to show their thanks to fans who have showed [their unit] love. During the concert, they plan to perform the new song created by the talented producers Primary and Zion.T.”
The upcoming ‘That Summer’ concert will seat 10,000 audience members total and include five concert dates. The event will not take place in large venues, but rather in smaller areas where the members can interact easily with fans. Through this novel concert concept, INFINITE will showcase their signature ‘precise choreography’ as well as newly arranged ‘unplugged’ versions of their songs.
Because their concert tickets completely sold out a minute after ticket sales began, the boy group has recently earned the nickname ‘Wan-Pan Dols’ (completely-sold-out-dols), and plan to solidify their spots as performance-focused artists through this concert.

Auditions for K-Pop Star Hunt 2 begins in September

THIS year, HyppTV, the Internet protocol television component of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), is collaborating with CJ E&M and CUBE Entertainment to bring the second season of tvN K-Pop Star Hunt to HyppTV on tvN HD (Channel 181).

“We are excited that Malaysia is part of the line-up this year as we know there are plenty of undiscovered talents here. The hunt is an international platform for those interested to showcase their talents and is also a learning ground to further hone and develop their skills to be the next star,” said Fox International Channels (FIC) Malaysia director and territory head Basil Chua at a Press conference on Tuesday at Menara TM in Kuala Lumpur.

Auditions for tvN K-Pop Star Hunt 2 will take place from September, and besides Malaysia, also new to the hunt are China and Indonesia.

Along with Hong Kong, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand, this brings the total of participating countries to nine.

“Korean Pop culture has been a great influence in Malaysia too and the fan base here is immense. We look forward to finding a talent from Malaysia who embodies all the qualities of a star to represent the nation on an international level,” said TM new media executive vicepresident Jeremy Kung.

“TM has always been an enabler in the business and telecommunications segment and we are glad to collaborate with FIC to be the platform provider for the hunt in Malaysia and we are proud that HyppTV will be the first to air the series in Malaysia.”

FIC tvN programming vicepresident Eddy Tan said: “Contestants can sing in any language as the only requirement is singing and dancing.” Also present at the Press conference was CUBE Entertainment judge Park Jae Hyun.

T-ara representative remarks, “Hwayoung got arrogant”

A T-ara representative has opened up about the group’s controversy.

On the August 3rd broadcast of JTBC‘s ‘Entertainment Exclusive‘, the rep stated during an interview, “Hwayoung was the last to join the group. I’m sure she thought she was working hard, but that probably wasn’t the case from the original members’ point of view.”

“Afterwards, Hwayoung developed a ‘celebrity complex’,” the rep continued. “She got arrogant, because she was a member of T-ara and she was also a celebrity. The other members started disciplining her about that, then things began escalating and ultimately got to where it is now.”

Another representative added, “There are probably a few members within T-ara that got along with Hwayoung. But the more influential members’ voices most likely became harder to ignore, and the members were probably in a difficult predicament where they had to choose a side.”

[SPOILER] INFINITE’s Hoya makes a shocking confession on ‘Reply 1997′

Member Hoya of popular boy group INFINITE has given fans and viewers of his sitcom quite a surprise.
On the most recent broadcast of tvN‘s ‘Reply 1997‘ which aired on August 1st, Hoya’s character Junhee made a surprising confession when he revealed the identity of his secret crush to Siwon (A Pink‘s Eunji). His crush turned out to be not a girl, but rather a guy, Yunjae (Seo In Guk).
The script had hinted earlier on that Junhee is a sensitive guy who seems to be able to empathize with the hearts of the women around him. Having decided to reveal their secrets with one another, Junhee then revealed to Siwon, ”Truthfully… I like Yunjae,” he confessed.
His confession came as a surprise to the viewers tuning in for it is not common to see a gay character on a television broadcast in Korea. Viewers expressed their surprise as well as applauded Hoya for bravely taking on Junhee’s role with his idol image, stating, “I was totally blown away by the surprise“, “No wonder Junhee could read the minds of girls so well“, and “That must be a difficult role for an idol to take on, Hoya’s really something“.
To this, the drama’s production team remarked, “A lot of people may be surprised with Junhee’s confession, but there’s more to come. Please anticipate more unexpected turn of events.”

SM Entertainment releases new video teaser for ‘S.M.ART Exhibition’

Having released their newest poster for the upcoming ‘S.M.ART Exhibition‘ earlier today, SM Entertainment has just revealed a new teaser for the event!
The newly released video teaser shows idols showcasing their dance moves along with various photos, and is sure to raise fans’ anticipation for the innovative event.
As mentioned previously, the ‘S.M.ART EXHIBITION’ will run from August 10th through the 19th with experimental IT contents and collaboration displays featuring contents related to their artists and actors. The exhibition is interactive with 20 different features that fans can experience first hand.

INFINITE spotted shopping in Apgujeong dressed in sleek black suits

The members of idol group INFINITE were spotted shopping in Apgujeong, garnering much attention from fans and the public.
On August 1st, photos of the idol group shopping at a brandname rain boots store was shared on an online community forum. The post was titled, “INFINITE Apgujeong.”
The netizen who uploaded the post wrote, “I saw some really good looking guys when I went to Apgueong, and when I got a closer look, it was INFINITE. Even when invaded their space with my camera, they responded with their smiles.”
The INFINITE members were matching in sleek black suits, sitting on the chairs to try on different rain boots. Member Sungyeol drew special attention, as he didn’t shy away from the camera, but rather posed for the photo by carrying the boots on his shoulders.
Netizens commented, “They are all good looking,” “I should have gone to Apgujeong,” and “Sungyeol oppa is so cute.”

Idol groups scramble to avoid overlapping their comebacks with T-ara’s ‘Sexy Love’ comeback

Entertainment companies are scrambling to find out the exact date for T-ara‘s “Sexy Love” comeback in order to avoid having their own comebacks overshadowed by the issues that may be brought up with T-ara’s comeback.

Having seen T-ara’s controversy bury all other news over the past few days, industry officials with idol groups that were originally scheduled to make a comeback near August or September have revealed that they’re working avoid overlapping with T-ara’s comeback. Although Core Contents Media announced that there would be no change to the girls’ upcoming comeback, their concert has already been postponed, leading to hints of a similar fate for their “Sexy Love” release.

The single is currently slated for an August 14th release, but the distribution date hasn’t been set in stone yet.

One official from a group preparing for comeback commented, “If T-ara were to postpone their comeback by just a bit, there’s a chance they’ll overlap with us. We feel that it’s best to avoid them altogether since it’s obvious that they’ll bring with them a lot of other issues. We’re looking to keep a fair distance away from T-ara’s comeback.”

After a teaser that was released last week, many fans were anticipating the new girl group from INFINITE‘s agency Woollim Entertainment. However, it seems that you will have to wait longer for the girl group. Instead, Woollim Entertainment will be debuting a new duo group named “Tasty (Tasty 2 Wins)“.
This was confirmed through the new website that just went up tasty2wins.com which contains the same music from the teaser. On the website, you can only see the silhouette of the 2 members who are presumably male and they’re labeled as “Asia’s No.1 Performance Duo“.

T-ara’s Eunjung has been removed from the homepage picture for the National Police Agency

T-ara‘s Eunjung has been removed from the main homepage of the National Police Agency, where she was serving as an ambassador for the police department.
A representative for the NPA posted an official announcement on its website. “Firstly, thank you for the attention to the NPA homepage. We have discussed the issue with the homepage designer and will be taking down the problematic background photo within today,” the announcement read. “We are paying attention to the complaints and we ask for your patience. Thank you.”
A few hours later, the photo of a saluting Eunjung had indeed been taken down, replaced with another background of another woman in uniform, who has been confirmed to be Krystal of f(x) by new reports.

INFINITE to release 3D movie, ’2012 INFINITE Concert 3D’

It has been revealed that INFINITE‘s performances will be recreated into a 3D movie.
Produced by director Son Suk, The movie ‘2012 INFINITE Concert 3D‘ will showcase the boy group’s various performances from their concerts. Through the 3D film, viewers will be able to experience the effect of being at an actual INFINITE concert.
Production of the film has been completed and it is currently awaiting examination by the ‘Korea Media Rating Board‘. Once it has been examined and rated, the 3D production will be screened in Seoul cinemas.
Recently, films that capture the activity of idol groups is becoming a trend. Before INFINITE, Big Bang‘s concert was remade into the film ‘2010 Big Bang Show 3D‘, and recently the performances of Girls’ Generation, TVXQ and other SM entertainment artists were showcased in the ‘SMTOWN Live in Tokyo Special Edition‘ movie.
One film industry representative stated, “It can be seen as an example of ‘One Source, Multi-Use’. Although the movie won’t be a large-scale release, the following DVD release will be profitable all the while providing enjoyment for fans. A variety of media content is being produced as a result of K-POP’s world-wide popularity.”

T-ara’s largest fan community to shut down

The largest online fan community for T-ara, t-arafan.com, announced that it will be shutting down their site on August 15th KST.
The fan cafe has received over 4 million cumulative visitors, and is the largest gathering of T-ara fans in the world.
The cafe operator posted: “I have decided to shut down the fan site. Since it was my first time running a fan cafe, I’m sure [it wasn't perfect], and I want to thank all the members who have participated. I hope we can meet again if fate allows.”
The fan cafe will be shutting down on August 15, one day after T-ara’s scheduled comeback on August 14.

Petition asking for the disbandment of T-ara gains over 71,700 signatures

With more and more individuals growing frustrated over the controversy that first surfaced with the controversial tweets of the T-ara members and the announcement of Hwayoung‘s contract termination with Core Contents Media, criticisms have been pouring in for the girl group.
A petition has even been created online asking for the disbanding of the group, with the title, “Petition for the Disbanding of T-ara“. The petition’s description states, “As a group who does not take the stage seriously, and as a group who is taking the lead in the spread of bullying, a big social problem, we ask for the disbanding of this group. It seems the time has come for T-ara, a group who doesn’t even greet their sunbaes if they don’t believe the other artist to be popular enough, to face the verdict of the public. Please dissolve this group.”
The petition has so far gained over 71,700 online signatures with numbers rising quickly.
